Shots of normal everyday people being observed (those people are our contributors who we find out later ) with voiceover. vo/ Everyone has the right to a fair trial, but just how fairly treated do you think you would be if like me, you were falsely accused of something you didn’t do. As a result of my trial, and other high profile trials, all rape prosecutions are now being reviewed. But why is this…? Many people who have been in similar situations to me have reached out, and I want to know why it is being ignored by the people who refuse to accept responsibility.”
I went to meet with Eddie, someone who served 18 years in prison for not only a crime he didn’t commit, but one that never existed.
Listening to Eddie and the way he talked about support from his sister made me think, how do wrongful convictions affect the families involved. I know my mother was devastated in my trial and had to question even herself (flashback to this morning interview). Jan, mother of two lost both her sons to incarceration after being found guilty for a crime they didn’t commit, one of which had less than 10% visibility (blind). I went to speak with Jan who took me to visit her sons in prison.
Part Two:
Opens with “previously…. Clips of the last episode ending on meeting children in prison”
Liam speaks to the Charity ‘Centre for Criminal Appeals’ to get an insight into their work and the people they support- Speaks to someone who is supported by the charity.
Liam then speaks to Mark, someone who made something good of being falsely accused. After having his lawyer leave him high and dry, he was left to defend and represent himself in court. He did his research and came out innocent. He was told he had a natural talent and should train to be a lower and is now doing so. He came from a bad upbringing and has turned his life around- a success story.
To get a more conclusive insight into evidence and the technical side, Liam speaks to an expert of Evidence (DNA evidence potentially) to get a detailed explanation. Also speaks to the CCPS?
