As Live - Studio Based Factual Programme

Blue Peter

Blue Peter is a British children's television programme, currently shown live on the CBBC television channel. A significant part of British culture, it first aired in 1958 and is the longest-running children's TV show in the world. Although the show has a nautical title and theme, it is a magazine/entertainment show containing viewer and presenter challenges, as well as the famous arts and crafts "makes".

This programme is ideal to compare to Steal The Style as not only does it share the fact that it is broadcasted live but there will also be a "DIY" section in Steal The Style. Where with Blue Peter their arts and crafts section has different topics each week where as Steal The Style may just stick to making you own clothes however they could diversify to other thing involved in fashion for example make your own Jewellery. In fact they could do a section on fashion fads such as "Loom Bands" which would fit with making your own stuff to wear but also point out how it was just a passing phase.

Above is a picture of a presenter from an old episode of Blue Peter who focused on getting kids to use their arts and crafts skills to create fun add on's for their toys or creating the same thing for a lot less money where the parents are concerned! The toy on the table in front of her is a purchasable base "Tracey Island" for all the Thunderbirds toy vehicles to reside in. However for a lot less money (in her hand in the picture) is the paper mache homemade version. Steal The Style could draw inspiration from this as the programme is aimed at people who want affordable non-high street fashion, so making your own for cheaper would definitely appeal to the target demographic. I also feel like this DIY section should be a regular weekly appearance on Steal The Style as it was on Blue Peter.
